CAFES DE MEXICO
FEBRUARY /MARCH

Editorial

Political topics have annoyed the majority of Mexican people. To prove
who is right or wrong is not the dilemma, however destiny has reached
coffee harvests that begins in October and it is important to follows
it course in order to subsist in this business.
It seems to be that sector’s members are finally bringing into
agreement the plan to conform the organism that will be in charge of
facing the coffee sector’s problem. Unfortunately these problems are
too many and we have a short time to catch up with the solutions. It
is an advantage to get the sector members together for agreeing about
the steps to follow.
The Mexican Association of the Productive Coffee Chain is the organism
in charge of guiding the sector and is headed by Mr. Rolfo Trampe, who
in this number will inform us about the immediate actions to be
realized.
We consider that applying the resources of supporting programs that
haven’t been applied is the most important thing to do right now
because it is a basic necessity for the producers.
Another point related to the participation, are the recent events such
as Expocafe, where the sector’s representation didn’t show and what
ended up affecting coffee’s direct promotion. Comments around the
sector say that there is no interest in participating in these kinds
of events, no matter if they are national or international.
In other topics, international prices are stocked because of the
speculation about Brazil’s production. Stocks managed by consumers are
very low which is making prices fall when this should be making them
increase. We really hope that once the harvest enters and the
production reality is defined, prices will find their real levels and
give producers a better view because they cant wait to improve the low
prices that they have been managing.
